Associates Unite for Fall Day of Service to Assemble Care Packages, Restore Ecosystems and Create Upcycled Dog Beds

September 19, 2026

At Ahold Delhaize USA, giving back to the communities we serve is central to who we are. Through ADUSA Cares, associates recently came together for our Fall Day of Service, contributing more than 2,000 volunteer hours to support local nonprofit organizations and community initiatives across our operating areas.

From environmental stewardship projects to hands-on service activities addressing immediate community needs, associates dedicated their time and talents to making a meaningful difference.

Building Essential Care Packages for Neighbors in Need

One of the largest service efforts of the day focused on assembling care packages filled with hygiene products and other everyday essentials. What began as a pilot program earlier this year expanded across all participating locations, creating an accessible volunteer opportunity for associates who wanted to support their communities.

Together, teams assembled more than 2,000 care packages for local nonprofit partners to distribute to individuals and families in need.

Supporting Local Ecosystems Through Environmental Restoration

In Carlisle, Pa., associates partnered with Letort Regional Authority to continue a conservation project aimed at strengthening the local ecosystem along Letort Spring Run.

Working in teams, volunteers planted oak trees, perennials and other native vegetation throughout Vince's Meadow. The effort built on an earlier charitable contribution that helped fund the purchase of tree saplings and supported the long-term health of the stream corridor and surrounding habitat.

Transforming Recycled Materials Into New Resources

In Charlotte, N.C., associates partnered with Envision Charlotte at the Innovation Barn on a sustainability-focused volunteer project. Using looms made from reclaimed wood pallets, volunteers transformed upcycled T-shirts into dog beds for local animal welfare organizations.

Beyond the physical impact of the project, the experience fostered new connections among associates while supporting a more sustainable future.

Growing Together Through Service

The Fall Day of Service reflects ADUSA's commitment to supporting the communities where associates live and work. By partnering with local nonprofit organizations and dedicating time to meaningful causes, associates helped address critical needs while strengthening relationships with community partners.

We are grateful to every associate and nonprofit partner who made the day possible, and we look forward to continuing our efforts to create positive change through service.
